Canadian Jews Stand with Israel
Our friends and family in Israel are in shelters or reporting to their army units as we write. We are astonished at the reported effectiveness of Israel’s strike against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and at the brilliant execution of a plan that has been months in preparation. At the same time a launch of missiles from Iran against Israel has been announced in the past few minutes. We are now hearing of damage and injuries in the Tel Aviv area. We will pray along with the whole Jewish world for Israeli victory in the coming days.
We spoke earlier today to our Aunt who made aliyah in 1960. She was full of hope and confidence. and we’ve been in touch with our sister who celebrated her wedding anniversary yesterday. She is with our niece, whose husband has reported to his unit, leaving her with their two young children. He was on a brief leave from his combat role.
Before returning to his unit he wrote to all of us on Whatsapp:
הֶן עָם כְּלָבִיא יָקוּם וְכַאֲרִי יִתְנַשָּׂא❤
“He is a people that rises like a lioness, and lifts himself up like a lion.” ❤
which is a quotation from the Tanach (Numbers 23:24). We pray for him and for our young cousin who reported today to his unit in the North.
Last Days of CZF Elections
Sunday June 15 is the last day of the CZF elections. We are asking our Canadian readers to vote for MERCAZ Canada, which is slate 4. We are fifth on the slate which means that a result of a bit over 25% for MERCAZ Canada will be enough to send us as a delegate to the upcoming World Zionist Congress.
While our thoughts are with the people of Israel at this time, we remain focused on sending a strong delegation of Canadian Conservative/Masorti Jews, to represent us at the World Zionist Congress. To achieve that we need your votes by end of day Sunday, if you are eligible.
To vote go to MERCAZ.ca/vote and register. You must be Jewish and a Canadian resident. Registration costs $2. Once you register you will receive a PIN by eMail, which you can use to vote.
