For those whose views are sadly and irremediably askew, there is no way to convince to the contrary. History can prove them wrong, but they do not pay attention to the history they invoke also in a skewed way... What most irked me is the person who dared to say that Israel attached the Palestinians, when the contrary are the fact... The invasion by Hamas and the murder of 1,200 civilians and the indefinite holding of hostages is testimony of the very unfortunate, yea tragic shortsightedness of those who post such comments...
I'm horrified by the comments that you highlighted. Both history and current events are being skewed and distorted. And the comments on the misrepresentations sound so damning. And all because 2 innocent Israelis were gunned down in the name of Palestine? There are no words.
I did find support walking with 56,000 Jews and non-Jews who support Israel, in the UJA Walk last weekend in Toronto.
I dont know the extent to which these vile sentiments represent the views of everyday Canadiens. But if they do I would already be planning a move south. Whatever issues we have here in the US I continue to believe and in fact am certain that the majority of the American people and an overwhelming majority of those who don't identify as Democrats support and admire Israel and loathe the Palestinian death cult.
My impression is that the average Canadian is still pro-Israel, but the hostile coverage of the war in the broadcast media is having an impact in shifting public sentiment. I fear that eventually, Israel will be seen as a pariah state by the majority, and the Canadian Jews as complicit in genocide.
