I simply don't have the heart or the stomach to engage with our enemies and their disgusting lies. I had to delete my entire Twitter account because of this. I'm glad some do.
Hi Connie. I greatly value your input and appreciate your interest in what I am doing. I know you are not my enemy.
I find your attitude quite different from those who sneer at the very real concerns being raised by Canadian Jews. By calling the reaction of the Jewish community to the Pride statement handwringing, Mira implies bad faith. That is both offensive and defamatory.
Mira grew up in the Zionist movement and knows exactly what she is doing when she compares Zionism to white supremacy. Historically, certain Jews who converted became famous for persecuting their former coreligionists.
Anyone who wants Israel gone is our enemy. For example, anyone who shouts 'from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free' wants Israel gone. Anyone who shouts that is not talking about a two-state solution. What do you do when you are talking with someone like this? Or if you are at a demonstration and this is what people are shouting or on signs they are holding?
I have been at a few of these demonstrations and I make a personal choice not to join in that chant as I know how it is heard by some of my Jewish friends and others. However, I have asked around a bit and found out some who chant it are themselves Jews. Others are not Jewish but also didn't think.it had that meaning. (Destruction of all Jews) I don't mean to say that there is no anti semitism in the pro Palestinian movement. Unfortunately it is present but hopefully not in the numbers you fear.
As I have stated, it is really important that we continue to talk. There is more danger, I believe, in not engaging.
The fact that there are Jews who chant that chant does not mean it does not mean the destruction of Israel. There are Jews who want Israel to disappear. I don’t understand that, but it is true. I’m glad you are open to engage with people of all opinions. That is so important. Antisemitism is pervasive in the pro-Palestinian movement.
I have so many thoughts after reading this article and the comments of other readers. For sure, what you said David is so true, that "the incessant accusation that Israel is committing genocide has real consequences for Canadian Jews." On a global and individual level, anyone who spreads any lies and accusations of any kind, results in serious consequences for the person /people/ groups being slandered.
Discussions must focus on facts, on truth - and anyone who can acknowledge the truth, but still supports the lies, really are our enemies.

I truly marvel at your ability to engage with such calmness and not simply scream into the void and go to bed. This is all so exhausting.
Dear David, I have not read all of your latest article yet but I do want to respond to some of the
language, especially in the title.
Conversation between those with differing views on Israel/{Palestine is really difficult.
Howwever, it is essential to talk. You have written that you support a two state soluntion.
How will that occur if we cannot communicate?
Language is important. Words matter.
I would ask you not to characterize those whose views differ from yours as the enemy.
I think that your views on some, perhaps many aspects of this tragic time differ from mine.
I am not your enemy.
Thanks for reading
Connie
